The Blind Lincoln Outreach Center (BLOC) was started as a ministry of Redeemer Lutheran Church in 2011. On the fourth Saturday of each month, people who are blind or visually impaired in the Lincoln community are transported via church vans to Redeemer for a luncheon. Devotion and prayer are a part of these meetings each month, as well as social activities, learning programs, or Bible studies.

The Blessing Box was built for the purpose of serving the surrounding neighborhood by providing nonperishable food items for those in need. We are always in need of donations to keep it stocked. Suggested donations during colder temperatures outside are nonperishable food items such as: boxes of dried food (mac ‘n cheese, instant rice, instant potatoes), granola bars, nuts, pudding, jello, cereal, pancake mix, toilet paper, bar soap, etc. Please feel free to add to the box at any time (located in the northwest corner of the church parking lot). If it is full, you may leave your items in the labeled tub located in the church narthex coat room or the FEC entranceway.

Located on 15th and E Streets, for over 30 years the Gathering place has been serving over 30,000 meals annually to those who face hunger in Lincoln. Evening meals are served Monday through Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and bread and fresh produce are distributed two nights a week. Redeemer takes a group of volunteers from the congregation to the Gathering Place one Friday four times a year in January, April, July & October. The Gathering Place is a great way for Redeemer to pour into our local community and it is a high organized social service environment in which our volunteers enjoy serving. If you are interested in taking 2 hours out of one of your Fridays to volunteer with Redeemer at the Gathering Place, contact Redeemer’s Gathering Place Coordinator through the Church office.

Hartley Elementary School in Lincoln is a school that Redeemer has formed a partnership with. Each Thanksgiving, 100+ Thanksgiving meals are donated by the people of Redeemer to help families in need at Hartley. And with 80-90% of families receiving some type of government aid, there is a lot of need at Hartley. Thankfully, Redeemer is full of a lot of generous people willing to help with the needs of our local community. In the past we have not only provided meals, but also donated winter-wear we collected, helped with a health fair, and Project Mercy donates 100+ quilts to Hartley families each year as well. We are also blessed to have one of our called staff as a member of Hartley Elementary School’s Community Advisory Board.

Our mission is to make quilts to donate. We do the sewing at home and meet once a month to put the quilts together and tie them. We would be happy to have new members. If you don't want to sew, that's OK, just come to assemble them. We meet the 4th Wednesday of the month 9:30AM to about Noon, January thru October, in the church Fellowship Hall. 

The Orphan Grain Train volunteers work hard to provide clothing, medical equipment and supplies, food ('Mercy Meals') and other items desperately needed by our brothers and sisters locally and around the world. In order to meet the ever-increasing humanitarian needs, OGT needs more volunteers, and you are cordially invited to join in this life-saving effort!

For several decades now the Lutheran Metro Food Pantry has served the needs of the Lincoln community when it comes to hunger. Though originally starting as a ministry of ELCA and LCMS congregations in the Lincoln area, it has grown to include contributors from many other church bodies around town. Without the generosity of many parishes around town this local social ministry could not survive! Twice a month Redeemer transports its donated goods to the food pantry. Bring your food to the main narthex or designate a donation in the offering!
