About Redeemer

Special Worship Services

Throughout the course of the year, Redeemer provides opportunities for its members and friends to worship apart from regular Sunday services. During the Advent season, the congregation has midweek Advent worship, helping people focus their attention on the Christ who has come, is here, and will come again. During the Lenten season, the congregation offers midweek Lenten worship, helping peopl foucs their attention on the passion, death and resurrection of Christ. The times of these services, as well as the times of other special services (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Ascension, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve) are published in the bulletin and monthly newsletter.

Sunday Afternoon Communion

On the fourth Sunday of every month, Redeemer has a Sunday Afternoon Communion service at 2 p.m. This service, which usually lasts about 30 minutes, consists of a simple order of worship, including a brief meditation and the celebration of Holy Communion.

Although any member of the congregation is welcome to attend, Sunday Afternoon Communion services are conducted primarily for two groups of people:

1) Those who work on Sunday mornings and cannot attend the regular worship services at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.; and

2) Those who, because of physical limitations, would rather receive communion in a small group setting

Distribution of Holy Communion at Sunday Afternoon Communion is done as during regular worships services. Those who are able and desire to receive it at the chancel rail may come forward for the distribution. Those who remain in the pews have the opportunity to commune when the Pastor brings the element down from the chancel area.
