Affiliation - Synod

Lutherans in the United States have for many years been united into different bodies or synods. Redeemer is a member congregation of the second largest Lutheran body, the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. This synod had its beginning in 1847. It was started by a group of German immigrants who wished to form a strong, confessional, Lutheran church. It remains to this day a strong, confessional church, which follows traditional Lutheran doctrine and encompasses people from many races and walks of life.

The headqurters of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod is in St. Louis, Missouri. It has over 6,000 member congregations. It owns and operates a number of colleges and seminaries. It supervises the writing and publication of religious materials for use in congregations in the United States and around the world. It has missions and missionaries in many foreign lands. It is also known as "The Church of The Lutheran Hour."
